The inspiration for this project is the open, airy, casually barefoot lifetstyle of southern California. The feeling this house exudes from the moment you step through its doors is pure cozy calm and is the sanctuary we all need right now. The palette is a cozy mix of subtle earth tones and textures grounded with layers of natural stone and wood, white tongue and groove ceilings and glass railings that disappear giving the allusion of a floating paradise. Our clients trusted our team implicitly to guide and implement our vision.
The existing house was in pretty bad shape and the layout was a bit chaotic and choppy with views of the water and access to the outdoors completely choked off from the home. So we raised the roof and punched out the back to create a wall of glass that captured the stunning views of the lake and bathed the interior with light and sunshine. The long, dark and awkward exterior entrance that immediately put you at the top of a staircase when you opened the front door was not the welcoming experience one hopes for in a house. We captured the exterior entrance to create a newly reimagined interior hallway that provided the dramatic entry to the breathtaking views waiting just inside. We created an open floor plan with the primary suite on the main level with outdoor entertaining spaces on the upper deck just off the kitchen with a wall of sliding glass way to create the indoor / outdoor living and added a covered and heated outdoor living space on the lower level for the colder, wetter days we have here in Oregon.
