TRADER VICS

For the rebirth of the historic Trader Vic’s restaurant’s return to Portland, we were tasked with turning 8,000 square feet into an intimate and inviting space that housed a bar and lounge, private dining room and regular dining room with an open kitchen. Considering the authentic decor and historical artifacts of the brand, we brought a fresh, modern take with a new palette of colors reminiscent of the waters of Polynesia. We nixed the old palette of reds, golds and browns and introduced locally sourced reclaimed wood shipping dunnage flooring. A custom waterfall and Portland’s first interior living plant wall at the entrance of the restaurant created a “transported to the islands with mai tai in hand vibe.”
