VICTORIAN
RULE
BREAKER
What started as a small kitchen remodel blossomed into a whole house, 3-phased renovation. The first step was addressing the seven shades of paint color on the exterior. With gutsy clients recently transplanted from the UK, we went for a stealthy black exterior that hints to the rest of the house is anything but traditional. By combining three smaller rooms on the back side of the house into one and popping out an exterior wall, we were able to create an expansive kitchen and dining space with fold-away doors that open to the back deck for alfresco dining. The final phase was transforming a cramped attic space into an inviting, light-filled en suite maste. Our design approach honored the history and architectural details of the space while pushing boundaries and challenging the rules.
